To most of my friends, I'm known as "Mary B." I am multi-faceted and blessed with many talents. I enjoy many different subjects and topics. I'm an information junkie, enjoy television and though I enjoy a lot of different music, my favorite is old school classic soul/R&B.
As an artist, it all began when I started to draw the Flintstones and other cartoon characters on anything I could find. My formal artistic training was perfected at the acclaimed High School of Music and Art, and the Fashion Institute of Technology, both in New York City. Now my canvas is the computer screen and one of my tools is the camera. My photojournalistic style tells a story by capturing little moments in time.
My professional experiences include serving as an adjunct lecturer at New York City College of Technology, CUNY—where I’ve taught Digital Imaging, Introduction to Digital Photography and the Foundations of Graphic Communications. I also spent 14 years at Black Enterprise magazine. As an associate art director there I’ve directed photo shoots with Venus Williams, Jasmine Guy, Oprah Winfrey and a many celebrity entrepreneurs.
I thoroughly enjoy being a photographer. I’m sure you’ll see that as you browse through my work.
